"unable to connect" is not the usual "your details are incorrect" failed login message that I'm used to seeing. "Unable to connect" to me suggests a MySQL error. Is your WAMPServer fully running? (should show the Wamp icon in the system tray of Windows as green).

Can you temporarily disable the .htaccess file (rename it to htaccess.old) and see if that error goes away and allows the login? Can you create a second test (registered) user from the administrator, and try that test user to login?Last PHP Error(s) Reported :: wrote:
